How to Find the Right RN jobs
Finding the best RN jobs may take a bit of time, research, and soul-searching. That’s because no two nursing jobs are the same. Here are questions to ask yourself and places to look to find RN jobs best suited for you.
1. What Type of Care Do I Enjoy Providing?
If you went into nursing because you love babies, RN jobs in the field of psychiatry or spine surgery probably wouldn’t offer many opportunities to care for infants. Likewise, if you enjoy providing care to elders out of love for a grandparent or for seniors in general, you won’t likely enjoy an RN position at a high school. So, focus on looking for RN opportunities that you find fulfilling and enjoyable.
2. What Type of Hours Do I Want to Work?
Are you ok with being on-call? Do you enjoy night shifts? Do you prefer several long days instead of five regular shifts? Do you like flexibility or a fixed schedule? Determining your preferred shifts can help you in your search for a terrific position.
3. Do I Know Someone in this Field Who Can Answer My Questions?
It’s a smart idea to find a nurse who works in the field that you’re considering and see if they would be willing to talk about their experience. Questions you may consider asking include what they find most challenging about the field, what they find most rewarding, and what advice they have for an RN considering a job in the field.
